Austria has traditionally maintained good relations with the countries in eastern and south eastern Europe. The mainstay of GEMÜ Austria's work is looking after these countries, and Vienna is the ideal location for contact with them. These countries are specifically Bosnia-Herzegovina (BIH), Bulgaria (BG), Croatia (HR), Lithuania (LT), Macedonia (MK), Poland (PL), Romania (RO), Slovakia (SL), Slovenia (SLO), Serbia and Montenegro (SCG), the Czech Republic (CZ) and Hungary (HY).
